Blog Entry: “ Country Girl” I’m a country girl, Who lives in a small town, Made of dusty roads and Skyscrapers. Gazing outside my bedroom window, I watch the children, Laughing and playing games Of leap frog and high seek, I’m a child again… I see a girl between the ages Of twelve and fourteen, Sitting on her porch She must be daydreaming she doesn’t even noticed me that I’m glancing in her direction, Trying to recall my own reflection I’m a city girl, Who lives in a world Of big dreams But who lives a country life Day after Day I read the street signs Unable to comprehend what You see a place of freedom, dreams And ambitions I’m left to envision signs those That read nowhere, Living in a place of self doubt Born with dark ambitions In a world of Submission.
