The waiting had been long
So long as that of an expecting
Mother who had gone for decades
Without having an issue she could
Call her own and become a real
Woman whose joy comes fully
When she cuddles her baby
Singing that sweet lullaby so
That her baby can smile
Obama's victory has come
To take away tears and frustrating
Years of waiting to see the promised
Land that flows with milk and honey
Today Martin Luther King's dream
Rings a bell into the ears of all Americans
Remembering them that the table of brotherhood
Had long been set so that all Americans could seat
Eat, drink and latter sleep to dream that American
Dream that calls one each from all shores to come
To America; that land of opportunity and hope
Tears flowed like torrents because it's shocking
That those who thought that power was given to
Them by God; must admit that it is God who chooses
Who to crown as leader and grant his mantle of authority
Placing this on his shoulder to bear and act as he directs
Birds and larks sang a solemn chorus announcing victory
Sweet victory depicting a sweeping change on mentality
Sycophants and booth flickers now weep for the truth stands
Some people had been cowed by threats and intimidation
Others have been threatened by fear and alas all had fallen
Apart like a house shocked by a hurricane stronger than Katrina
A new dispensation and political journey begins today for Americans
The Journey might be rough and challenging and calls for hope and faith
America United today to take a decision that will drive this beautiful land
Unto the shores of the American Creed as bequeathed by Delano Roosevelt
J.F. Kennedy and other Americans who neither believed in the red or blue
America; rather they looked up to that one United States of America
Seemingly over the years that fabric that bonded them had been
Shattered and battered by greedy politicians who have been hijacked
By lobbyist and con men who have selfish interest in the White house
Today a clean broom is about to sweep Washington clean
Removing that fear of greedy politicians who forget so soon
An electoral college and begin establishing a gang that kills their vision.
