We hurry down to breakfast
biscuits, syrup and grits
out the door to the front pew
where the children sits
That old deacon starts to pray
open your heart let God have his way
he prayed so long some feel aseep
pretending the Spirit made them weep
A sister jumped up ran down the aisle
church mother said
let God use that child
Choir asinging clapping their hands
congregation on its feet
giving them some a-man's
Preacher man yells and screams
come to Jesus he'll wash you clean
I whispered to my little brother Earl
momma gave me the evil eye
close your mouth, sit up straight
and straighten your bow tie
Now, everything's quieted down
everybody's gathered around
we said a prayer sang a song
now it's time to go back home
Feeling good feeling good
yea lordy, feeling mighty good
