Good-evening PS Fam,

Was chit chatting with another member, and touched base on spoken word... I for one feel thy art-form is further drifting away from poetry itself... So on that, do u feel some spoken word artists are not Poets in reality? Speak Up!!

spoken word artists Are poets but their poetry is just different from the spoken version. Once being a spoken word artist I spoke the poems I wrote so does that not make me a true poet???????? I think the way they flow makes the difference
some use anger, some talk so fast you think its a recording, but it is definitely POETRY

I feel they are real artist. You have to start with being a poet and than further your skills and venture off into the spoken word. I feel that its not that is drifted away.......I think it doesnt get enough recognition.

I write my poetry as if I were reciting it to someone. I love a fluid rolling off of the tongue cadence. Spoken word allows you the freedom to give your written poetry a theatrical aspect. It allows you to use sounds, rhythms, vocal inflections and body language to deliver the effect that you were hoping the reader of your poetry would get from that black & white page.

i believe the true poet always begins in the notebook, with the pen...he/she, may go to the stage and end up performing, and may end up performing well...but as long as u get back to the page, and never abandon that which is read silently to self, makes u not only a poet, but a writer...now with the spoken word artist, yes they (we) are artist, due to what we speak, comes from the page....but that's just my opinion.

As I wrote in my book, "Holy Water Book II The Spoken Word" The Spoken Word is powerful, Insightful, is educational, has meaning, is informational and blesses the hearer. Performance Poetry is a type of poetry which must be spoken by the writer so that the proper inflection, diction and intonation is placed where it gives the intended meaning or can be used for double entandre, misdirection or to make a point. Words spoken and words heard are just words depending on who is doing the speaking and who hears them. When it comes to Spoken Word Poetry, a true poet uses his or her gift to share their inspiration with the world.
