It's hard being a mother, especially when you're black All the pain and sorrow we carry on our backs Raising our children the best we know how Teaching them to stand tall, not beg or bow Praying at night when we hear the police roam That our child is safe and they will come home Having your child grow up and stray away Begging to God, on our knees we pray "Protect my child, Lord hear my cries" Reading in the paper that another child has died Theses are some mean streets and they will destroy It doesn't matter if it's a girl or a boy Going to court to stand before the judge But you faith in God, will never budge It's hard being a mother in these days and time Especially when the world has so much crime Your child is an important image of you you hope through them your dreams will come true We don't ever want our children to be lost And any good parent will show them who's boss By teaching them all the golden rules Then..we'll put a stop to A Black Mothers Blues

I can relate to this completly. As a dad I can also speak for the "blues" we also feel as protectors for our children.....when they become old enough to venture out into this cold world I do pray that God will protect and keep them out of harms way. Touching write on a touching subject.

Good-evening ebonyqueenFreeman,
I'm feeling thy pain, as sadly today's BLACK MAN seems not to care when it comes to the community, but most importantly thy OWN KIDS... To many about running the streets, and leaving it up to thy queens to raise this generation solo... In summary, know that there are good black men out here, and I for one so glad u have found one...
