For the love of the people
the recognition that we are whole
a whole facing times out of control
Times where priests touch children
and children shoot up schools
our occupation of a nation
that engagement has no rules
Education is lacking
charter schools losing backing
and rap is under attack because it's no longer a Black thing
Affirmative action is now racist
the media is tasteless
the war going on outside ended up in my basement
and they ain't got a suspect the first
and what's more worse is that they ain't even looking in the first place
See I've got 2 sons, and my passion for truth comes from the ONE
not religiously but spiritually
because man touched one and made it corrupt
they made it so morals can be pushed aside when convenient
then say in God we trust
in hopes that people believe the verdict
Justice does injustice and after 25 years they say they made a mistake
DNA has proven your case
25 years later
and that smile cannot be a frown
because then you will become the hater
The hater of a system that took 25 of your years and regardless if you had shed some tears
you will be labeled ungrateful
and "angry"
See when we raise issues we are "angry"
the truth is so hard to swallow that starvation is power
we would rather not say than say
how society done become hollow
But I can't take that road because my soul will not let me
every time I try to lighten up they tighten up
and tell that 50 shots don't prove guilt
but let that man protect his son in his driveway
and see what kind of justice he gets
I would die for the truth if it means my kids will have a better future
but I've got be here speaking this truth in order to guide them through this.
