Crossing the Atlantic Ocean
With shackles on our feet
We're coming to America
Unaware of the life we'll meet;

Making the 90-day journey
Aboard overcrowded ships
We're coming to America
Being herded my men with whips;

Chained to low-lying platforms
Unable to stand erect
We're coming to America
Stripped of our self-respect;

Our quarters are unventilated
And unsanitary as well
But we're coming to America
To face an even greater hell;

So many of us are dying
As this terrible journey embarks
We're coming to America
Our dead used to feed the sharks;

Stacked like books on a bookshelf
Packed like sardines in a can
We're coming to America
To be slaves in a strange land.

Hello Slendah,

Lost for words, as I couldn't imagine being on a ship for days... In some cases not even being fed while on thy journey to a new country... Some of us don't realize how BAD SLAVERY was... I'm pretty sure if one listens while at SEA, you can hear the cries of millions of slaves who died before reaching their destination...
