 A Naked Face
A smile can tell a thousand lies
Its truth unrecognizable to its possessor Within the reflection of a mirror Hung upon so many walls By too many broken nails
Every night seems darker than its prior And each morning's sun rises later Awakens to shine without interruption Upon a sidewalk once littered with the shadow of existence
Too many stepped on cracks And a face is left to age naked Except for a smile etched by the cruellest of memories As an everlasting reminder of a once newly purchased mirror Where did last fall's leaves go?

Lights Final Rest Eyes glimmer Specs of light radiate Rays of rainbows emit
A prism of fortuitous youth
Daylight rests And darkness takes its turn
Another day Turns to history
Atlas's globe spins He never does seem to tire
Learned contentedness Throughout Condemning years
Once colored views fade to illusions Grandeur turns through paths too black
The aging eyelids of hope tire Drop to meet the lashes That lay directly below
Daylight rests And darkness takes its turn
In sleep Eyes rapidly move Each upon its own axis Stopping only to stare in fear at one another As truth has blackened their hues
Silently they're forced to move in fear
Daylights final rest shall soon be realized

Streams to Lost Dreams
The melodies of rain drip against my coated window sillThe curtains cannot shield the soundA melody of dancing dreamsIn rivers that started simply as streamsTears join in chorusTo sing to pains tuneLiquid flows and waves grow Rivers to oceansAnd still the song singsI swim through the notes as if they are hallwaysCorridors that once were scentedWith fairytale dreamsNow smell of only salty waterA bodiless knight lays below meHis empty ArmourFloats too low to rescue meAs I continue to swim My heart continues to singThrough the lonely hallwaysOf a life treading hope

Captured by Truth The floor is tiled in natural hues Cracked and broken by design As if imperfections add to beauty An immaculate hope That proves to go undefined
Like the tiles I lay naturally Cracked and broken Mud tracked trails leave their debris of rejection Upon layers already sullied by their truth
Pieces beg to be pried from the dirty spots in which They were forcefully embedded Another foot always stands by Awaits its chance to leave the print of its patronizing opinion
Each review an accurate exploitation
And another stain remains upon the corrupt mosaic That survives as a façade in desperate need of replacement
Contrary to the belief that it will set you free Prints of truth just fill the cracks with ugliness And seal off the breaks with shame -- Audrey Michelle
