Hero
We all have had our heroes
bat, spider, superman and the like
but i know a real hero
who stays and watches through the night
he grew up just like me
and went through many of the same things
but instead of thinking of just his future
he thought of a whole country
and while i lay in bed
and fall asleep feeling safe
our brother is many miles away
staring the enemy fearlessly in the face
things that we take for granted
like liberty, freedom, and pride
are the same things that this hero
for which he must fight
and he does not know
if in the morning he will wake
but he keeps fighting on
while the ground around him shakes
so next time you see
one of these people, whom you may know
thank them, respect them
remind them they're your hero
