Live blogging the inauguration of BARACK OBAMA
Posted On 01/20/09 @ 07:58 AM

8:33am

I will be live blogging right up to the swearing in of our new president. I will be blogging from my blackness and my back ground as a black person seeing a black president sworn in to office of the united states of america.

I fully realize that racism is not over and i know first hand that there are still some ignorant people in the usa but over all The American people are ready to change, they are ready for change and they spoke loud and clear that change was possible.

My parents are dead, my slaved grandparents are dead, my slaved great grandparents who were  born the bastard children of slave masters  are dead- but this day I view and use my eyes for them, i will see it all for them I will hear it all for them i will cry for them, my tears will flow, tears of joy for them.

I think the dream of Martin L. King has began to be realized, however this is just the beginning of change. There is still work to be done, but today marks the beginning of The greatness of America rising above itself to  a greater place in my eyes.

I don't usually eat breakfast but right now i am going to eat breakfast and watch the news on MSNBC- waiting for the Obama Family to leave for the St. John Church..

Obama Inauguration

I will probably write a poem because words are swelling up in me as I type, my heart is so full of happiness, my heart is so thankful right now. My heart is feeling so blessed right now. Thank you America, thank you!

Right now the crowd is rising on Washington DC.

9:23am
Watching the news cover this is exciting and at times disappointing also. Today is a day of celebration and today i don't want to hear about all the problems Obama is getting, we all know all the problems, i don't want a long drawn out report of how difficult it will be for him.

I just want to enjoy the day. So when they have some guest on the news talking about the negs, the gloom and doom speakers i mute the TV. We will face all that tomorrow but today, i WANT THE JUST DO CELEBRATION.

Today is not only historic, but for me as a black person today is truly spiritual. It is a feeling inside that only other black people are feeling today. Yes I know the world is feeling somethings too, but as a black person it is some sort of rebirth. I feel like christmas, new years and my birthday all rolled into one. I see those crowds today and it is amazing. There is happiness in the air.

There is pride in the air, there is togetherness in the air. We are one. Today we are one. And i don't understand how anyone, i mean anyone can not be proud in America today! If you don't feel any pride in the USA today there is something wrong with you! The transfer of power- the moment The Obamas arrive at the white house for coffee with the Bushes. Here we go!!!! Obama and Bush leaving white house In the car The motercade to the capital 11:15am Well THE presidents of past are now coming in and we are getting closer. I am almost holding my breath now and feeling light headed. The pictures of the crowds are amazing. THe ENERGY in washinton today is surely powerful and amazing. The air is clear and crisp from my TV view. I think i have the best seat in the house, i see everything! i feel the excitement. I feel the anticipation of the day. Its awesome! There are people everywhere, the place is packed. Not a green spot on the park and while we are all happy and in the festivities, the moving van is at the white house moving in the Obama's stuff! yea! Obama's stuff moving in the white house The first family comes in First daughters and first grand mother OMG!! the crowd is booing Bush!! singing nananana hey hey hey goodbye!!! The first Lady elect comes in First lady elect The Vice president elect comes in Vp elect The president elect comes in The president elect coming out The president elect The president elect out The people cheer Areatha franklin sings My country tis of thee Taking the Oath Taking the oath and Gentlemen The President of the United States Barack Obama President Obama The People cheer Thepeoplecheer God bless The President, God bless America!

Really Proud of my Country
Posted On 01/19/09 @ 12:12 PM

Michelle Obama Our First lady elect, was almost torn a new a-hole during the campaign because she admitted that for the first time in a long time she was REALLY proud of her country.

Well i am just a peon, a nobody SO I can say what ever the hell i want. And today I must say that for the first time in a long time i am really proud of my country.

It has long been known that slaves were part of the labor force that built the White House and the US Capitol. And today the US National Archives exhibited government pay records from more than 200 years ago that portray some of that often overlooked history.

The slaves working on the building were bricklayers and carpenters. And though their names (and only their first names) appear in the pay records, the money they earned went to their owners. Even the architect of the White House, James Hoban, owned three slaves who were working on the project, and Hoban was paid for their labor.

The CBS Evening News aired a segment on the slaves who worked on the White House, and Jesse Holland, a writer for the Associated Press who has written extensively about the slaves who helped build the city of Washington, has also written about the new revelations.

On January 20, 2009 I will have my tissue handy as President elect Barack obama is sworn in as the first african american president, the 44th president of these united states. It will probably be thee most proud day of my life. Because for the first time a black man, woman and children will reside in the white house built by slaves. I am still trying to wrap my brain around that, but No matter what is going on in the world right now i am very proud of my country.

Not  just because we have a black president, but because we are finally getting pass color at all. We still have a ways to go but we are at a new beginning for sure.

Happy Birthday Dr. Martin L. King. The Dream is alive and well.

The Painful Stuff I Keep
Posted On 01/16/09 @ 10:28 AM

The painful stuff that I keep
2009©

In the box in the back of my heart,
lives the painful stuff that I keep
It is covered with the black cloth,
and under all those rocks of time, some deep.

No one really knew what was in there but me,
I refused to share my shame with strangers,
I refused to engage in conversations that
open the wounds, and remind me of all the dangers.

So I hid these feelings and emotions in this box,
 like a file,
I'm not the only one to do so either,
my siblings have boxes too,
but they are in deep denial.

As time goes by and we get older,
I feel I must face the pain and shame.
So I write the words, the hurt
to the world I begin to proclaim and explain.

But this makes most people feel unconfortable
and they also feel me as a disgrace,
because I dare to tell the truth, open all the wounds
no longer sacrificing myself for the ugly face.

If the body never lies, and the truth can set me free,
and if this book I have written gives me peace
and heals what I have been through,
Yet with sadness in my heart at your dislike,
but I must do what I must do.

And hope someday We can come to grips with it all,
 and find some common ground.
But as I now go over the hill- I want to go up,
and I refuse to continue to allow anyone to bring me down.

This is my way of healing and licking my wounds,
why don't they try to understand, I need to see the painful words in ink.
Instead they are angry, they say I am a drama queen with a need to be right,
they say "you make us look bad,  and what will other people think".

After all these years of denial and shame,
and most of all the guilt I felt, and for love I yearned,
now all I want is to heal MYSELF, to be finally complete and free,
so honestly, what others think, is no longer of concern to me!

How does one Just "Get Over Being Black"
Posted On 04/07/08 @ 01:38 PM

I found this video and these words to be interesting ( I don't fully agree with them all) but decided to blog it. I don't really care to place blame or shame on anyone, I am just glad America at large is finally forced to come face to face with itself where race is concerned.
And I quote
......
Which party has deeper racist roots?

April 4th, 2008 marked the fortieth anniversary of the murder of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We have definitely made progress- well, at least some of us have.

On this momentous day Frank looks back at the evolution of the Democratic and Republican parties. Rightists try in desperation to hide their racist roots with fantasies and half-truths about the Democratic party. They paint efforts to compensate for the atrocities of slavery and discrimination that lasted in bold form until just the end of the 1960's as the opposite of what they are- racist.

We can only fantasize about the outrage and demands that a white America would make if the tables were turned. Forty acres and a mule? Ha! Many of todays white power elites cry like babies if they have to pay their taxes to the nation they claim to love so much!

One conservative was brave enough to admit the truth:
"It was the liberal wing of the Democratic Party that ended segregation."
--Newt Gingrich

Also a very powerful blog and full account of message by Rev. J. Wright you must read this blog
Understanding the Black Experience

And also check out this-
Here's a Fox News interview with a (white) Catholic priest who supports Rev. Wright by comparing him to Jesus.

Mama's not crazy, she just forget things

"Mama's not crazy, she just forget things"

_________________________________
Early she rises long before day breaks,
making as much noise as she can make!
But mama's not crazy, she just forget things.

The water is running, TV blasting
and the radio plays a band.
And if there is anything else
that will make some noise it's a plan
But mama's not crazy, she just forget things!

She has many clothes, but wears
the same dress, everyday of the week.
And declares she ain't got nothing to wear,
cause we stolen all her clothes while she was asleep!
But mama's not crazy, she just forget things!

She rides the community center bus,
each day they pick her up at ten.
They bring her home at two,
and the rest of the evening
she ask me a thousand times,. has she been.
But mama's not crazy, she just forget things!

Some days they come she's not ready
cause she's talking on the phone line.
Telling anyone that will listen,
that we've taken her for every dime!
But mama's not crazy, she just forget things!

"Everybody thinks you're crazy"
is her main thing to say!
But she will ask a thousand times,
where are we, and what is today?
But mama's not crazy, she just forget things!

One day she put all the pots
on the stove a blazing!
Burned up the pots to a smelly crisp,
then looked at me, amazing!
But mama's not crazy, she just forget things!

At her constant request
I take her to the store.
Just like a child, from isle to isle
the moment we hit the door!
But mama's not crazy, she just forget things!

She picks out all these childish things,
paint brushes, pencils, a rubber eye!
And sits them on the checkout counter
and waits for me to buy!
But mama's not crazy, she just forget things!

When we get home three hours later
she has forgotten where she put them.
She begins to declare with all her heart
that one of us has took them!
But mama's not crazy, she just forget things!

As day turns into night, she goes to bed and say,
I need my beauty rest for tomorrow is another day!
Now if you believe that mama's not crazy,
then you are crazy too!
Cause only someone out of their mind,
would do what mama do!
But,..........
Mama's not crazy, she just forget things!

Coming face to face with self

Coming face to face with self
norahs©2008

As I awake early and lay in my bed,
I wrestled with all of these thoughts
in my head.

The why, the how,the what, the who,
What Oh Lord, am I suppose to do!

Then I listen for the sweet soft voice of the gentle man,
the inner man,who took the place of the sinner man.

Hold still now child,
collect yourself and breath.
Then,..
he speaks to my heart
the words within.

Every woman's man has to someday,
in some way,
take his own hand, make his own stand,
and find his own path, his voice,
his own words to say.

Dig deep into your being
to find yourself.
Turn over ever stone,
 every cell,
every organ,
 until nothing is left!

Find your very soul,
the part you can feel so deep inside,
until it makes your eyes cry,
a river of wet, sweat and tears,
cry until all your fears
have been released
and they cease
to exist.

Cry until they no longer
 hold any power over you,
until they no longer need to.

Then and only then
will you be able to clearly see
 your destiny.
The place in time
where you were born to be!

The place in time and space,
where you have fullness of grace.
That breaths that smell so sweetness,
as it rolls off your lips,
and moves your hips,
at the same time.

Then and only then,
is when and only when,
the pure and free meet soul to soul.
And boast of the things you feel,
the things you see,
the things that are real.

Then and only then will your life
have the truest meaning of time.
The deepest meaning of your mind.
The center of your universe.
It can't be learned, taught, or rehearshed.
It is a gift.

It only comes when you yeild your very being
to know your truest meaning.
It is infact the ultimate cleansing of your soul,
For then and only then will you meet your truest goal--
of time.
Then and only then will you truly know--
your own mind.

And once you find this place,
you can begin to walk slowly, and smell the roses,
no longer must you race, or strive at a swift pace.
Because you have finally come face to face,
with yourself!

Then the outer you
 meets the inner you,
 and become one.
And yes, life and getting there
was suppose to be half the fun.
It was in the beginning a gift from
 the father and the son.
And once you reach that place
your greatest journey has just begun.

Poem::Before We Were Slaves
Posted On 03/10/08 @ 08:02 AM
Before we were slaves,

norahs...©

Before we were slaves,
we were kings and queens ruling countries
and deciding the fate of others.
With no credit given to the ancestors.
Their awesome efforts and contributions
to the world at large.
I search the history, and found it
all to be a mystery.

But with persistence found the truth,
resting like a pearl at the bottom of the ocean.
Then eyes were open and minds enlightened to the
beauty, power, and wonder of a generation,
gone but surely not forgotten.

Before the movies, there was the true queen,
a woman of color, beauty and power.
She conquered her world and saved the hour.
Cleopatra was her name, and ruling was her game.
Not to forget The one of riches and her story was biblically told.
The Queen of sheba a woman of color wealth, riches and gold.

And just knowing the plight, and the insight
of their flights, makes my life more promising
and wonderfully lived in the glow of light..

For with the lives they lived
and the gifts they gave, Shown forth a beekin of
and the path they paved.
For me and my people,we strive
as we keep the dreams alive.
we have not yet arrived,
but Freedom came with a price,
but oh how nice it is to look back
with honor and thank the ones who came before me,
for their dreams,
and know that before my people were slaves,
we were kings and queens.
